A Recent Press Release..... Nurses of Distinction are being sought for nomination throughout the United States and the World. Dr. Gloria Jo Floyd, a nationally recognized speaker, consultant, author, survival strategist, also known as The Nurses Coach, announced this honor effort today. Floyd who has the title of Editor of the Millennium Edition of Nurses of Distinction 2000 USA/World noted that "Nurses are often overlooked in the healthcare world. This is unfortunate when you consider that nurses are usually the first person a patient or client sees in a health care organization, the primary coordinator and/or care giver when they are present and provide most of the discharge services." The Millennium Edition of Nurse of Distinction 2000 - USA/World in a multiplicity of ways is seeking nomination of outstanding nurses. Floyd points out that nurses honored may have been of distinction " in many areas including clinical practice, education, consultancy, administration, authorship, public speaking, mentorship, counseling, advocacy, entrepreneurship and related." She went on to point out that "Excellent nurses are everywhere." Nominators should provide the nurse's name, address, city, state, zip, e-mail, fax and/or telephone number and three ways they are worthy of being called a Nurse of Distinction. Nursing, Consultant, Educational and Health Services (NCEHS), a 22 year old company that has on a consistent basis found ways to honor, encourage and support nurses and healthcare providers, women and children is the developer. Our previous awards in 1980 - 1999 have been under the name of "Excellence". Founded in 1978, it has provided services in the area of accreditation/licensure assistance, new program development, educational materials, continuing education programs and related. Nominations for Nurses of Distinction are being sought through a myriad of ways including postings on message boards, via news releases, articles to media sources, sharing the search with various web links, in workshops and seminars, mailings, flyers, and related over the past year. This process has been successful and nominations have come in by phone, fax, mail, email, and nominations on the Nurses of Distinction site on our web page and they are still coming in. Commerce Dr. Floyd, herself, has been selected for several recent honoree publications including 2000 Notable American Women, Who's Who in International Entrepreneurs, Who's Who in Professional Management, etc. Who nominated me? NCEHS has received many nominees primarily by emails. We are currently responding to acceptances, follow ups, requests, etc. At this time we do not have a process to easily reply to the individual questions as there are too many nominations to go through quickly. If your nominator has not gotten in touch with you, you do not feel you deserve the honor and/or do not wish to accept it, that is fully in your decision making process.
